It really wasn't difficult at all, transferring the markings to a bigger, clean, sheet because we'd spent so much time on site working it out. I was glad I'd left it a few days, given it time to coalesce in my subconscious (or wherever it is that things work themselves out whilst we are sleeping); it meant I was ready to concentrate with a 'clean slate' mind, rather than feeling like a frantic little hamster on a wheel, running to catch up.
We still need to do a "sanity check" tomorrow - compare the diagram, amended estimate and the red duct tape stuck to the walls [marked up with a Sharpie (instructions of what to go where)], but that shouldn't be too bad as we've already pretty much worked it all out a couple of times now.

I've cut the A2 plan down to A3 [the plan was only A3 size, surrounded by white space (done in a rush)], so that will save a bit of money on the photocopies - I'm going to take them along to the shop on Monday after we've looked over them at the house. I intend to leave a copy in the house and keep another one in my folder.
The wiring diagram has already been a success: I was blocking out the removed immersion heater and thought "ah, light in airing cupboard", and then "oh, it might need to open into bedroom 2", so it's 'paid for itself' already!
Tomorrow I will drill two or three test hole through the plasterboard to see where it is exactly after having a measure of the outsides. It could work out better having the access in bed 2 - it will give us a shallower, wider cupboard, and that corner of the room already has the eaves access, so I can't put a piece of furniture there anyway. It's the room that will be winter snug/home office primarily with spare bedroom only being an auxiliary role, so the path to the door won't be clogged by a bed. And even if it were, awkwardly placed airing cupboard is way better than no airing cupboard.
I'm feeling a lot calmer, now, and having better confidence in Steve and that we've thought through the electrics a bit more, I'm more hopeful of it being OK. We can't afford "great", but "pretty good" will do.
It's been another wonderful day, so I'm hoping we get more brilliant bramble-slashing weather over the weekend - fingers crossed!
