[Ouch!]
UK Power Networks didn't...
NOT impressed with them!
Both of our heads were hurting after Steve's visit with trying to trim the electrics down as much as possible without the place becoming a classic example of "one light, two sockets" per room; bad enough staying in those places on holiday, but living in one? No. We wracked our grey matter to find the compromises [I think we found quite a few] until our brains were about to explode, so devoted the rest of the afternoon to chopping down [in my case] or off [David's] vegetation.
David has nearly found the entire front lawn; just a patch of brambles to finish off [and I might do those], and I have created a space that's nearly big enough to have a bonfire. We're desperately cracking on whilst the weather is good, because if we can get rid of all that we've hacked off so far it will all become a lot more manageable.
Weather permitting, I will enlarge the burning area tomorrow and then Monday we can become pyromaniacs!
Well, David can, I'm much more interested in the "chop down trees; plant new ones" process; once we've created enough space/access to the woodlands, I can start the "blurred edges" planting we've planned...
Decorative Japanese maples, white silver birch, the showier types of rowan, that sort of thing, between garden "proper" and the woods. It's going to look great, just need a few years for the trees to grow...
But as I say, first we need to clear space before we can fill it.
Fingers crossed for another great day tomorrow!
[Oh, and if UKPN could see their way to making the house safe, that would be nice, too.]
