It's only taken us twelve years!
This year I won the "who, if anyone, will remember the anniversary" competition; I remembered yesterday, and would have snuck some fizz in the fridge had there been an open box. As it was, I didn't want to rummage around in his wine rack, so made him a celebratory Post-It note, and caught him out that way.
It's a good job we care more about being married than presents or cards; we're both pretty rubbish about remembering some day over a decade ago.

Electrics, Day 4
We got everything sorted out bar discussing with Steve about the requirements for the oven, hob, and extractor fan; we know where we want them to be, but not how the supply should be sited in relation to their position. We also haven't marked exactly the landing lights; I get too wobbly up even a tiny step-ladder next to any kind of drop. We will either have to trust him [hm, not so sure I will manage to achieve that], or David will be sent to draw circles on the ceiling, but that's a thought for another day.
We've made a few changes, and additions, but I don't think it will be too bad.
We're putting it out of our minds so that the subconsciouses can work away at it whilst we go back to slashing and burning, much more fun.
After heaving a sigh of relief that the wiring plan was 99% there, we started disassembling the kitchen for some light relief. We took out the corner units, but have left the worktop/door resting on the sink unit as it is really handy [and I'm too cowardly to mess about near the plumbing until the stop-cock works].
Then, because we hadn't found enough filth & mess [dead rodent excepted], we dismantled the wardrobe in the dining room. I'm hoping we can sell them on eBay; not because I think they will bring in much money, but they are original 50's or 60's items, in original [if digusting condition], and I know there are people out there who like that sort of thing, so it seems criminal to burn something that another person would value.
We shall see; the items are in the other garage for now.
Two of the neighbours across the road [Daniel and Laurentu] came to see if we would employ them to do some of the building work. I'm reluctant to say yes to plumbing or electrics because their English was really poor, so we think it very likely they wouldn't be able to conform to the latest building regulations, and I really had a good feeling about Jason the joiner, so am not going to consider them for woodworking.
But we are wondering whether they would be able to take down the corner of the garage that moved following the 2003 drought and re-build just that section. We shall think about it a bit more, but are tempted to ask them if they could...
It would give us an idea about their skill levels, and if they managed OK, we would ask them to do the same for the outbuilding [bigger, and more important to us to keep].
All in all, a lovely day, and now I'm off to enjoy cauliflower cheese in celebration!
