Not about UKPN, obviously...
But about the progress we are making on the garden and outdoors generally.
I cleared the brambles from the side of the lawn at the front of the house whilst David chopped up the last few trees I'd felled last night; I was too tired, and they were too big to move as they were, so I just left them clogging up where I was creating a space for the bonfire. He finished that and we swapped places. [We were still (stupidly) hoping that UK Power Networks wouldn't let us down again; fat chance - electrics remain dangerous, and we're paying more rent on a place because we can't move into a house we own. Not chuffed.]
David started strimming the side of the lawn nearest the gate [to be visible and see the drive in case the power company honoured their most recent promise to actually show up; tomorrow onwards they are just going to have to find us], and I carried on clearing the trees & briars from the area that will become our wildflower meadow, but for now is basically a crematorium.
The brambles are winning the skirmish with my forearms, but I am winning the war! I got enough distance from the canopies of all the trees by the time we had a late lunch, so after a much needed break I lit the fire whilst David put away all the stuff into the car and house.
With the benefit of hindsight, I should have chopped up lots of trees into 'bite-sized' morsels, but I was so keen to get on, and concerned that it would take us weeks to get through all the debris we had to incinerate that I just wanted to make a start.
By the time the light was fading, so too were the humans, but we had dealt with nearly all the waste from clearing the burning area, and had done all the bits on that side of the "stream". Another time we should start earlier, as the embers really took a long time to finish burning and start to cool down.
It was dark by the time we left the house, and I think we'd truly earned our curry, and I suspect we'll both sleep without rocking.
